Andrea Tyniec

Violinist Andréa Tyniec has deeply moved audiences all over Europe and North America with her artistry. Musical Highlights of the 2011/12 season include performances of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Orchestre Métropolitain; the Brahms Double Concerto with cellist Andrés Díaz and the Banff Festival Orchestra conducted by Lior Shambadal; the Glazunov Violin Concerto with the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, lead by Michael Newnham; and Kaija Saariaho’s Graal Théâtre with the GGS New Music Ensemble lead by Brian Current.

Andréa made her debut with Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 2009, an honour given to her when the International Holland Music sessions chose her to participate in a tour. Many awards have been bestowed upon Andréa; she is a recipient of the European Prize for Culture by the European Cultural Foundation Pro Europa, and 1st Prize winner of Italy’s Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition 2008, which lead to a tour of Italy. She has also performed in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, France, Poland, the USA, and Canada. She has received numerous grants from the Quebec Arts Council and the Canada Arts Council.

Ms. Tyniec completed her Bachelor degree in Music Performance at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal with Professor Sonia Jelinkova and received her Master’s degree in Music Performance on full scholarship at Michigan State University. Andréa also trained at the Fondazione Walter Stauffer in Cremona, Italy, where she participated in masterclasses with the great violinist Salvatore Accardo. Andréa completed her Solistendiplom at the Hochschule Musik und Theater Zürich and her Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, with Professor Josef Rissin.

Andréa is currently based in Toronto. She plays on a violin made by Stefano Scarampella (1900), a loan from the Instrument Bank of the Canada Arts Council.
