Anna Litvinenko

Of Cuban-Ukrainian descent, rising young cellist Anna María Litvinenko has been acclaimed by the Miami Herald as a ”gifted performer” who displays a “golden tone” and “sensitive phrasing.” Since her solo debut at the age of ten, she has performed prolifically, appearing as a soloist with South Florida’s leading orchestras, including the Miami Symphony and New World Symphony, among others. Internationally, she has performed with orchestras in Venezuela and Ukraine, and has given recitals in Ukraine, Latvia, and Norway. Recently, Anna participated in the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and was a 2012 YoungArts Winner.

Until graduating high school, her primary teacher continued to be her father Konstantin Litvinenko. Now eighteen years old, Anna is a graduate of Miami’s New World School of the Arts High School, and begins her studies in 2012 at the Juilliard School in the studio of Joel Krosnick. She is the recipient of the E. & W. Naumburg and C. & H. Lewine Scholarships at Juilliard, and is a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholar. Throughout her high school years she also studied with Aaron Merritt at the New World School, and with Hans Jørgen Jensen and Michel Strauss at the Meadowmount School and the Orford Festival. She has also participated in numerous master classes with distinguished artists such as Alisa Weilerstein, Pamela Frank, Paul Katz, Andrés Díaz, and Johannes Moser.

In addition to her experience as a soloist, Anna was the first young artist in the Miami Symphony’s Outstanding Young Artists Program starting at the age of twelve, and went on to become a regular member of the orchestra’s cello section. Anna has won first prize in several competitions in South Florida, and was the third place laureate at the 2010 Sphinx Competition. She also received the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award after appearing on NPR’s From the Top, a weekly radio showcase of America’s top young classical musicians.
