George Fu

George Xiaoyuan Fu is an American pianist, composer, and conductor. A native of Frederick, MD, George graduated from Urbana High School in 2009. He is currently a senior at Harvard College in Cambridge, MA, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He studies piano privately with Meng-Chieh Liu. His previous teachers include Carole Kriewaldt, Faye Bonner, Dr. Scott Beard, and Susan Starr.
George has been a frequent participant in numerous international and national piano competitions. Some highlights include: First Place, 2009 Blount-Slawson National Concerto Competition in Montgomery, AL; First Place, 2008 National Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition in Washington, D.C.; Most recently, George has been a semifinalist in the Busoni International Piano Competition (Aug 2011) and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition (Mar 2012).
George’s many achievements have generated great interest in his performances from various venues. He had his orchestral debut in 2009 with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., playing Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto. He has performed concerti with the the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, and the Landon Symphonette.
