Thomas Cooper

Recognized as an avid solo and chamber music performer, Boston native Thomas Cooper has performed in major concert halls throughout the United States and Europe. Recent concerts include appearances at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. In 2013, Thomas was a member of the Honors Quartet at New England Conservatory’s Preparatory School and recently collaborated with the Jupiter String Quartet in January 2014. He served as one of the principal violists for the prestigious Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and in the summer of 2013, toured Holland with the ensemble playing in some of the finest concert halls in the country.
Throughout high school, Thomas partic ipated in benefit concerts for various causes, oftentimes raising thousands of dollars. Thomas has devoted much of his time and energy to organizing performances for Help! Come Home!, an organization of which he is a member.
Thomas is in the process of completing his Bachelor of Music in Violin and Viola at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with Milan Vitek and Peter Slowik. He previously studied with Stephen Erdely and Dubravka Sajfar. In past summers, he has participated in the Litomysl International Masterclass in Europe, the Ashmont Hill Chamber Music Festival in Boston, and the Foulger International Music Festival in New Jersey.
